I’m Tora Cullip, Body Confidence Coach and author of I Want What She’s Having, Now!, and I’ve had to learn how to be happy and love yourself to overcome an eating disorder, Anorexia Nervosa.

These days my goal is to help health-conscious women transform how they feel about themselves so that they can upgrade their health, feel body confident and have the courage to be their best. But it was a long journey to get to where I am today…

I used to have an eating disorder, Anorexia Nervosa, and ended up weighing just 37kg / 81lb /under 6 stone. I had many disordered beliefs about food and my body, and my self-esteem was practically nonexistent.  In fact, I was a long way from being happy and loving myself.

You may think that spending all day trying not to eat means I wasn’t all that bothered about food. But I woke up thinking about food and I went to bed thinking about food. Food was my obsession 24 hours a day.

When my weight was so low that I was scheduled to be hospitalized, I knew I had to make a choice: start loving my body and myself, or hand over control to the medical professionals.

I choose the former, and from that moment on I have had a deep desire to love myself more, embrace a healthy lifestyle and live life with purpose.

One of the things that gave me a purpose to recover from my eating disorder was my passion for sport. During my recovery, a friend persuaded me to enter a triathlon race and I came third (despite tripping up on my shoelaces and riding a mountain bike that weighed as much as a small elephant!). That first race led me to more competitions, and I’m proud to have represented the UK at 3 Triathlon World Championships.

My Health Wake-Up Call

By this time I was extremely fit, but the truth is my health was still suffering. Just because you’re fit doesn’t mean you’re living a healthy lifestyle or that you’ve learned to love yourself. I worked hard, trained hard and didn’t care too much about what I ate because I was “a triathlete”. However, I seemed to catch every cold that was going, was prone to injury, constantly bloated and had a debilitating headache on a weekly basis.

Translation? I was supremely fit, but I felt like death inside.

What I needed was a total lifestyle upgrade – one that focused on both my fitness AND my health. I also wanted to remember how to be happy again!

I quit my high-flying corporate career because one of the things I realized is that stress really sucks! I also stopped training so hard – I may not be winning races anymore, but how I look on the outside now reflects how I feel on the inside. I also adopted an Upgrade Lifestyle: I nourish my body, mind and soul by gently and lovingly upgrading how I eat, think and live my life.

Nowadays I am fit, healthy and body confident. In other words, I know how to be happy and love myself.

Paying It Forward

how to be happy and love yourselfAbout 10 years ago I went back to school to train as a counselor, health coach and fitness professional so I could inspire and help others to change their relationship with food, get motivated to exercise and find their own body confidence without fad diets and deprivation. Since then I have helped 100s of people to feel comfortable in their own skin again.

Donna & I joined forces about 2 years ago because we knew that two people on a mission can do more good than one! With our combined experience in teaching, counselling, coaching and fitness – as well as our personal backgrounds of weight loss and gain – our mission is to simple: to help you upgrade your health, feel body confident and have the courage to be your best.

Tora Cullip is a health coach, counsellor, fitness professional and author.

She is on a mission to help health-conscious women transform how they feel about themselves so they can upgrade their health, feel body confident and have the courage to be their best.

Tora has supported hundreds of people to improve their lives by helping them change their thinking, see things from new perspectives and start taking action. Although she has helped people through many of life’s difficulties, she is most proud of the work she has done with people struggling with eating disorders, a disease she has herself overcome.

Her book “I Want What She’s Having Now!”, written with Donna Richards, has been called “The Four Agreements” for weight control. It’s a no-nonsense, relatable call to action for people wanting to lose weight and become the healthiest version of themselves, both inside and out.

Tora Cullip now works with Donna Richards as “Donna & Tora“, and they help women feel body confident with their unique M3 Lifestyle Approach to healthy living. They teach people how to change their mindset, reset their metabolism and get motivated so they can feel confident, healthy and have the lifestyle they want and deserve.

Her motto: health is a lifestyle, not a life sentence!
