Help Me Get Motivated To Lose Weight

When you embark on a weight loss regime, you’re likely to be determined that this time it’s going to work. The trouble is, after a while you’re likely to lose the motivation to keep going.
Studies show that only 7% of dieters will stick with it for more than 52 weeks. After only 13 weeks, more than 60% of people will have failed their latest weight loss attempt…and then end up heavier than they were before they started.
Diets are meant to be short-term, making it impossible to stick with long-term. Add that to the huge amount of willpower they expect you to have, and it spells disaster. The trouble isn’t you, or even your diet, the problem lies in your ability to stay motivated.
I’ve been teaching people for over 20 years about how to get motivated to change their behaviors to get the desired outcome that you want. That’s really what we would need motivation for: to change our behaviors, to actually take action to get the results we want. It’s really simple (but not necessarily easy)!
There are three key questions that need to be answered so that you can understand how you can get motivated to lose weight.
Q1. What is motivation?
Most people think that you’re either born with motivation, or you’re born unlucky, but that’s not true! Motivation is a skill and a strategy – something that you can actually learn. So what is motivation? Well, when you look at the psychological terms of what motivation is, it’s “the inner or social stimulus for taking action”.
Motivation is the stimulus to take action, and that’s exactly what we want for you too.
Q2. How do you get motivated?
When you look at all the motivational gurus out there, such as Anthony Robbins – who is probably the most well-known motivation coach on the planet – they will tell you that we’re motivated by two things: pain and pleasure. You may not like the idea of pain as a motivational tool, but it’s actually a really effective one. You are motivated to move away from pain, and towards pleasure. Both pain and pleasure stimulate us to take action, so what’s important is working out what brings you enough pain and enough pleasure to give you a motivation kickstart.
Q3. How do you get motivated to lose weight?
The first thing you need to understand when you want to get motivated to lose weight is how to manage your mindset and deal with thoughts and beliefs that are no longer supporting you – so the things that are causing you pain. You need to have a look at how to stop those things from getting in the way of you taking action, and one of the ways you can do that is to use ” target=”_blank”>mind power techniques. Emotional eating is all wrapped up in the pain aspect of our motivation.
The second thing you need to get clear on is exactly what you want to achieve – and I’m talking very, very clear on exactly what you want. You see, the thing is that most people know what they don’t want but they are not 100% sure on what exactly they do want. Once you’re really clear on that, the next step that’s going to help you take action is to ask yourself ‘why’?
Now this why has to be really personal, I mean it has to get you through those tough days. “Why are you doing this?,” “what’s in it for you?” – once you are clear on that, then you’ll find it a lot easier to get motivated and take action. Jim Rohn – the grandfather of motivation – said “the bigger the why, the easier the how”, and nothing could be truer about weight loss motivation.
Last, but not least, is to get some help and support – and that’s where we can come in. We want to help you by being your motivator….
